In 2016 swissnex San Francisco entered a new era by moving into its new location at Pier 17, under one roof with the Swiss Consulate, the Swiss Business Hub, and Switzerland Tourism. Inside its premises, swissnex San Francisco now has the space to host up to fifty “Residents,” – other organizations interested in joining our unique Swiss-American innovation ecosystem. A large gallery space coupled with a large event hall makes it possible to organize and host more visible and more significant activities, with more impact. Together, all these people and institutions co-create a Swiss Pier on San Francisco’s Embarcadero waterfront, creating a collaborative, boundary-crossing “living lab” for diplomacy and innovation.

swissnex @ Pier 17 will continue to be an experiment where people and ideas can connect, learn from each other, explore new frontiers and collaborate. Some of the bigger themes we will explore in 2017 are “Everyone a Humanitarian” and “Bots Like Me”. The number of groups and visitors interested in exploring innovation will reach record highs, as we ramp up four initiatives launched at our inauguration: Dart17, Free Electrons, LivingLab and the Science Studio. From inspiration to action!
